Gouley
was the biggest surprise
out of all the restaurants that I have visited. I went
during lunch, and for $35, I got a 3 course meal. I was
simply astounded by the amount of food you get for the
money. This is not what you would expect at a high end
restaurant of this caliber. The extraordinary service
and ambience could have justified spending a much higher
amount. They phyllo crusted shrimp were not over crispy.
The entre was roast chicken with demi-glace. I will say
it is nothing short of impeccable. Gouley has taken the
art of cooking meat to a whole new level. The chicken
still retains its natural flavors and juice and is not
hindered by the glace at all, magnifying each and every
piece. Finally, the desserts are first rate. If you
don’t come for anything else, come for the pineapple
meringue. The freshness is evident, as any refrigerated
meringue becomes soggy. I was also given a cake to take
home. The service was punctual and their perception is
great too, knowing when to ask us how we were doing and
if we needed refills. I would recommend this place to
anyone.
